PROJECT GUIDELINES

Present you project to the class and each member will present a part.

Presentation will be done immediately after the last lecture of the term.

Marks will be rated based on the rubrics attached to this document.

Conduct a research or make interviews with experts where possible, to make an accurate report. The report must be uploaded and the similarity index must not more be than 20%. (Plagiarism report).

Report and the plagiarism report must be uploaded in the Moodle.

Q1: CASE

Mary, 87-year-old woman, is in the front garden of her old weatherboard home. Duncan, a big man, parks his motorbike outside her garden and strikes up a conversation with Mary. He told Mary that: I am a licensed painter and I could paint the exterior of your house for a good price

$5000. Mary obviously felt intimidated by Duncan and hastily agreed. The next day Duncan arrived and over the next two days painted her house. During this time Mary discovered from her daughters inquiries that there are competitive quotes for the painting work, the going rate for painting her house was about $3000. Her daughter also discovered that Duncans registration as a licensed painter had lapsed two weeks ago because he had forgotten to pay the renewal fee. The job is now complete and Duncan has asked Mary for $5000.

What are the problems that surfaced after the contract. (5 marks)

Is Mary contractually obligated to pay Duncan the $5000? Support your answer with at least 2 reasons. (5 marks)

You have ordered expensive Bisazza marble for your new house. After giving 50% advance you realized that you can get cheaper materials from another person. The materials are packed and about to be delivered, but you dont want to pay balance.

You have ordered designer outfit of 800 bd. The seller has shown fake pictures, fake tracking sheet. When you received the material, you realize the outfit is very poor quality and 1/10^th of the price.

Q4. Prepare a short presentation of a leading company based on the business problem and in the process of a minitrial.

Describe minitrial. (2 marks)

Prepare a shortened presentation by the executive about the positive side of the company. (5 marks)
