iii. Physical changes to the room are limited to adding security measures and equipment. Walls, layout, and location of the server room cannot be changed.

Key Risks to Address:

The server room houses extra IT equipment like network cables and chargers. Door access is granted via badges. Employees have been caught handing their badges to unauthorized employees to grant them access to the room when they need a piece of equipment. This results in a risk of unauthorized access to the servers, which contain sensitive data.

There are desks and chairs in one corner, where IT employees gather to socialize. This has led to food and drinks being open near sensitive equipment. Additionally, there are often too many employees in the server room at one time. There is a risk of spilling food or drinks on the equipment and losing important data and equipment.

The outlets in the server room are outdated. The most recent fire inspection revealed a risk of short circuiting the breakers due to the amount of equipment connected. This creates a high risk of fire in the building.
