Project Objective: There are two main objectives to this assignment: 1. Part 1: To have students understand how to plan a work breakdown structure using Excel as a project management tool. There may be project organizations that are comfortable using Excel to do similar activities. 2. Part 2: This assignment is a precursor to the group project COVID19 Preparedness Schedule and Report. This early thinking and planning are foundational and can be used to further define and refine the tasks in the MS Project Plan (for the COVID19 Preparedness Schedule and Report). It allows students to identify any gaps in the students thinking about creating work breakdown structures. Assignment Instructions: This assignment is a Group assignment worth 5% of the final course grade. It has only one main deliverable: Deliverable An Excel File detailing the tasks and other relevant project information (5%) Creating the Excel File Project Plan o This assignment is worth 5% o The file format for this assignment is an Excel file. o NO OTHER REPORT OR DOCUMENT is required for this assignment. o It is based on the COVID19 Preparedness Schedule and Report Case Study (and can be found in Brightspace). o Use the blank Excel template (provided and can be found in Brightspace) to complete your Excel project plan. o A sample plan is provided (and can be found in Brightspace) for reference only. However, your plan needs to be much more detailed and specific to your group assignment. o The Sample Plan (can be found in Brightspace) is simply for you use as a guide and to see how the plan can be developed using Excel. MGT4104 Project Time Management & Technology 2 o You must include Summary Tasks and not just Tasks. Please do not modify the template (such as adding extra columns). o You will base your plan on the Project WBS (found in the COVID19 Preparedness Schedule and Report). Any task lasting for months implies that there is an opportunity to further decompose it. o Upload your completed Excel Project Plan into Brightspace by date/time. o Only one presentation file per group. Important Information: The Excel project plan is based on the research you would have done for your assigned state. Where there is a lack of information, you can refer to information from like or neighboring states. And, if you must make assumptions, please include that as comments in the Excel file. You have several ways to do that: o Add it in the Column section of the Excel Project Plan file o Insert it as a comment in that task line o Add your assumptions in a separate tab Remember predecessor activities must be clearly identified. Do not use flowery language to describe your tasks. Tasks cannot read as if you are narrating a story Please ensure that you follow the schools policy on citing all references. Citing References: Ensure that all of your research sources used are cited.
