Project proposal. 1 Training seminar project proposal Your name Institutional affiliation Project proposal. 2 Training seminar on gun control Statement of need Gun control is the laws regulating the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification and use of firearms by regular citizens. In the United States, in every 100people there are 88.8 guns. This is the highest number of firearms owned by civilians compared to any other country throughout the world. In June 12, 2016 many people were innocently killed in a club in Orlando, Florida following a gun shooting by an armed man. There are some people who end up abusing their gun ownership rights turning it to destructive acts against other citizens. There have been instances of mass massacres in the country and this alone necessitates a seminar on gun control. Human life is precious and it does not deserve to be terminated with no reason whatsoever. Some of these gun owners are so irresponsible as to shoot another person for just annoying them or offending them. Some of these gun owners are not even mentally stable that is why we have a series of mass murders. It is so easy for murderers to get access to guns. Even children are exposed to these deadly weapons at an early age and when they grow up seeing these objects they will turn out to be gun owners when they grow up. Guns are meant for personal protection and any other use rather than that falls into misuse of firearms. Assumptions The assumptions that most of the citizens are gun owners are made because the seminar is about responsible use of guns. Project proposal. 3 The assumption that these people have interacted with guns at some point in their lives is also made. Project scope People in attendance will learn about proper usage of guns. They will also be taught on the responsibilities expected from them as gun owners. A gun holder needs to take good care of the firearm to make sure it does not end up in criminal hands. Secondly, guns should be kept far from children. Lastly, a gun owner is supposed to know laws regarding usage of firearms. These people will be taught on where to get proper training on loading and shooting a gun. The public also need to understand in what instances use of gun force is justified. Deliverables The seminar will produce knowledgeable and responsible citizens in all matters concerning the use of guns. The seminar is targeting the mature part of the population who are in ownership of guns or who have plans of getting a gun. The seminar will include exhibitions of fire arms and ammunitions. There will be brief demonstration of how to use a gun. The objective of the seminar is to sensitive people on misuse of these deadly weapons. Resources In the seminar there will be gun control advocates who will be sensitizing people on this topic. Also some members from the local police department will be in attendance. There also exconvicts who had been arrested on wrong use of guns. They will narrate their experiences and what lead to their arrest. There will be posters and pamphlets incase people do not get the information clearly from these people. Project proposal. 4 Schedule The seminar is scheduled on the third month of the year. Right now am working on getting the resources and publicizing this event because I want an audience big enough to make an impact in our locality. I have been into local TV stations advertising and there are posters on the streets. The seminar will take place in the local community hall Price This is a good course ripping benefits for the community. Therefore, the advocates and the police officers assigned the talks are not charging anything. However, there are costs involved in advertising in the TV stations and printing out pamphlets and posters. Luckily, the project is being financed by local company that manufactures guns and ammunitions. Risks The risk involved is non attendance of the targeted people. If people do not show up, then the project will be of no impact to the society. For this reason advertising is being emphasized for the message to spread far and wide. Also there is the risk of lunatics showing up to the venue to disrupt the seminar. This is because most people are against gun control. Therefore we cannot ignore the possibility of protestors showing up to the venue demanding for the seminar to be stopped. Expected benefits People will learn that guns are not safe. It is not as easy as the movies make them seem. There are way too many incidents of people getting injured or even killed due to inexperience. For this reason, people will taught where the right training on usage of guns can be found. Project proposal. 5 People will learn on the right procedures to follow in case they need guns for protection. People will also know the importance of keeping weapons locked up so that children and criminals cannot come to contact with them People will learn when it is appropriate to use guns because too many people get locked up for the wrong reasons. Also there are guns that are not supposed to be in the hands of any civilian. People will learn what type of firearms they should own and which ones belong to the army. People will also be encouraged to give their guns to the government in case they do not use them. Project proposal. 6 References Greenwood, C. (1972).
