Question:
Project will focus on the Phone Apes recycling cell phones for conservation program.
Centennial College has partnered with the Toronto Zoo to provide cell phone recycling services through the Phone Apes program. Nearly half of Canadians have unused old cell phones at home, but through responsible recycling these can be used to help save gorillas and the environment. Since its inception 15 years ago, the Phone Apes recycling program has helped to re-use valuable metals, divert materials from landfills and toxins from leaching into the soil and groundwater, as well as protect gorillas and their habitats from mining https://www.centennialcollege.ca/about-centennial/sustainability-at-centennial/sustainable- development-strategy/waste-reduction/phone-apes-recycling-program/
The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy was established in 2019 to secure increased financial resources and support for the wildlife conservation work being done by the Toronto Zoo. Extinction is forever, and the Zoo's work in fighting extinction -through research, public engagement and education, breeding and reintroduction programs - is vital to wildlife, to us, and to our world (https://www.wildlifeconservancy.ca/what).
