Project You will choose a system that you have found interesting and submit a project with reference to a disease or injury relating to that system. 1. Choose one disease or illness relating to the body system of your choice; check with lecturer that it is suitable a. Describe the NORMAL healthy function of the organ system b. What are the organs of that system? c. How does the system work? d. Include if possible a diagram of the system 2. Describe how the illness affects the function of the organs system; what changes take place in the system as a result of the illness. 3. If possible avoid cancer: cancer is a disease of the cell and can occur anywhere in the body (it is not a great choice). 4. You need to reference three sources of material at the end: this could be 3 websites or books or pamphlets. Example: Asthma and the Respiratory system: • Describe the healthy function of the respiratory system; o The structure of the lungs o How we breathe (400 words) • What is Asthma? o How does it affect the lungs and breathing? o Symptoms and treatment plan might help e.g. the inhaler people use.
