When constructing a new hiring system, an organization may wish to test out various options before finalizing that system. Specifically, HR professionals will find it beneficial to explore various hypothetical scenarios with real applicant data to get a better feel for how effective their proposed system will be To do so an organization may choose to conduct reliability and validity studies wherein selection tool data is gathered from applicants who are subsequently hired and whose performance is then measured after a period of time on the job. These data can allow one to speculate on how a given staffing system would function with future applicant pools.
On the course webpage under Content and Week you will find a data file in Excel format that contains the type of test score and applicant information that an organization would likely collect to explore the effectiveness of a proposed system for hiring for a particular position. The data file consists of variables collected for applicants. Using the information contained in the file, explore various features of the proposed system by answering the following questions.
