- 1.1 Visualize yourself professionally 20 years from now.
- 1.2 Think of a job title in an industry you would want to see yourself in 20 years.
- 1.3 Go to O*NET Online and search for your dream job title under 'Occupation Quick Search! For example, if you want to be a Controller of a Fortune 500 company in 20 years, you should type 'Controller' in the quick search box (see picture -> ). This search will give you a list of job titles related to your search.
- 1.4 Select your desired job title. In this example, you can select, 'Treasurers and Controllers' The resulting site will provide information about tasks, technology skills, tools used by people in this profession, knowledge, skills, abilities, work activities, wages and employment, and outlook of this profession.
