Purpose: To utilize your innate/personal knowledge to communicate the importance of teamwork in an organization.

Assignment:

Each and every one of you at some point in your life has been part of team and engaged in teamwork. It may have been family preparation for a holiday, a sports team, or in a work or school setting. Chapter 7 & 8 of the book discuss Teams, Teamwork and Team Performance. They, in part, focuses on the importance of Teamwork in an organization. This assignment, however, does not require the contents/terminology in the book but rather will focus on your life experience and your ability to make a persuasive argument.

You are a manager in an organization and you have been tasked with writing a Memo (I will provide the format below) to your superior- in this case me- to explain why it would be beneficial to the organization if your department were permitted to create a team to complete its tasks based upon your past experience(s). I am not providing you with facts so if you want to create specifics for your department, you may do so or alternatively, you may discuss the idea generally.

Things you should consider: Teamwork can significantly improve:

Effectiveness;

Efficiency;

Morale;

Job Satisfaction;

Unity of Purpose;

Communications;

Innovative Thinking;

Quality;

Speed in getting things done; and

Loyalty to an organization.

When discussing your experiences, make sure you explain how the foregoing items were apparent or evident when engaging in teamwork.

It is not necessary to do research for this project but if doing so please make sure to reference to any source material utilized in your response (ie-the book or the internet). Failure to include such reference is considered to be plagiarism. You are not required to use any particular format to cite sources. Do not quote just to use up space. If you quote something there should be a discussion of it afterwards.

The Memo should be approximately two (2) pages typed, double spaced, 12 point font. (This means it may be less and it may be more)
