Design moment reinforcement, and check the shear and deflection, for a waffle slab as per
SANS 10100. The panel in question has 3 edges which are discontinuous and 1 short edge
which is continuous. The overall floor system is constructed on a 10m8m module (Figure
Q1 below). The total dead load is 4kNm2 and the imposed load is 6.2kNm2(both unfactored).
The materials of construction are grade 35 concrete, grade 450 reinforcement (high tensile) and
grade 250 mild steel. Consider the exposure condition to be moderate. Use Y16 bars for main
reinforcement, and R8 stirrups/links as necessary. Assume b=1. Also, assume the topping
thickness =80mm(thus no need to calculate it). Should the shear resistance or deflection
design be not feasible, make recommendations (no need to redesign here).
