The existence of conflict has two main implications for an organisation. It can be beneficial, in that its presence shows that a healthy interchange of ideas exists in the organisation. On the other hand, conflict can be counterproductive if it harms employees' satisfaction levels, impairs productivity, or increase absenteeism, turnover, or work-related stress. Consequently, even though conflict can be regarded as a natural part of organisational life, it needs to be carefully managed, as it can threaten the productivity and survival of the organisation.
