1- Using the tributary area method, find the service and ultimate loads at the foundation level of column D-2(The column located at the intersection of axis D & axis 2).(5 Marks)
2- If column D-2 was subjected to a pure axial load of 4000 kN , is it safe? If not, what can be done to make it safe? (5 Marks)
3- If column D-2 was subjected to an axial load of 3000 kN in addition to a bending moment of 1200kN.m, is it safe? If not, what can be done to make it safe? (10 Marks)
4- Calculate and draw the rectilinear (internal) ties of Col D-2 as required by ACI 318-14(5Marks).
5- As per the ACI 318-14, determine the required vertical spacing between the ties of Col D-2?(5Marks)
Notes:
Ignore the column self-weight and the partition/wall loads.
Use Concrete cover equals to 30.0mm.
Refer to the figure for the application direction of the moment.
Do not interpolate when using the interaction diagrams, use only the nearest chart.
Illustrate the required calculations to obtain the needed rectilinear ties.
