Question: Question 2 [ 5 ] An 8 2 . 5 mm diameter permeameter contains a sand column 4 6 0 mm long. When water flows

Question 2[5]
An 82.5 mm diameter permeameter contains a sand column 460 mm long. When water flows
through under a constant head at the rate of 191mlmin, the head loss between two tapping points
250 mm apart is 380 mm . Calculate the sand's coefficient of permeability.
Question 3[7]
A pumping test was carried out in sand extending from ground level to a depth of 25 m , at which
an impermeable stratum was encountered. The initial water table level coincided with the ground
surface. Observation wells were positioned at 4 m and 8 m from the pumping well. When a steady
state of pumping was established, the discharge rate was 8 litres ?sec. The draw-downs in the two
observation wells were 2 m and 0,5m, respectively. Calculate the average coefficient of
permeability of the sand in msec.
Question 4[4]
The temperature of the water in the laboratory to calculate the permeability in question 3 was 20
degrees Celsius. If the groundwater in the field is at temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, find the
field permeability
