In the news, a statement was issued by Dis-Chem and answer the essay question that follows:

The letter to all senior management from the CEO, dated September 19, 2022, states:

A moratorium is placed on the appointment of white individuals. This includes external and internal appointments.

Action SA leader Herman Mashaba says Dis-Chems moratorium on hiring white people is racist and divisive. Mashaba said: As far as I am concerned, that letter by the CEO of Dis-Chem was racial and divisive. Racial quotas contributed to our current economic woes. Hire South Africans on merit and focus on investment in training where you experience weaknesses.
