Typically a marketing plan includes overview of the business current marketing position, business target market and specific needs, strategy formulation and implementation with specific timeline, as well as key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieved from the strategy implemented. Different year brought different challenges: Covid-19 pandemic; causing steep decline of the stock market; affected many household savings, investment, rising of unemployment rate; corporate scandals backlash; stronger emphasize of environmental issues such as plastic usage, carbon dioxide emission, and other signs of deterioration in the environment to promote sustainable marketing. Prior to strategy formulation and implementation, a good marketer must be able to provide a situation analysis of the macro environment. These macro environment consist of six major forces - political, economic, social- cultural, technological, environment, and legal. The situation analysis is also known as PESTEL analysis which usually will lead to new opportunities and threats for a business through a SWOT analysis. In other word, PESTEL analysis considers the broad environment context that affects the business and the changes that occur in this context. Meanwhile, SWOT analysis then interprets these findings for the business to determine the strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities and threats." Based on the evaluation of the environment done using the PESTEL framework in Part 1, critically evaluate the opportunities and threats facing IKEA Malaysia using the SWOT framework.
