Question 3 (25 marks) Case: Network for retail stores and head office As an IT manager, you need to ensure a proper network infrastructure is in place to support general communications and business applications operation. As Jenny is planning to open 2 retail outlets initially, it is essential you design a network that would enable the communications between the outlets and the head office. The 2 retail outlets will be opened at Lot One and JEM shopping centre respectively while the Head Office is located at Suntec City. To design the overall network, you will need to address the following: In addition to the information system that you suggested in Question 1(a), each outlet will need one desktop computer and a tablet to support the retail operation. Each outlet will have a local server within its own local area network. All devices in each outlet must be connected via telecommunications processors which will also enable the connection to the Head Office. The outlets need to connect to Head Office for transmitting data where there is an Application Server to support the information system suggested in Question 1(a). Home connection to the Head Office is needed as some of the staff may need to work from home due to pandemic restrictions.
