Blink $($Pty$)$ Ltd has recently undergone rapid expansion and is seeking to enlarge its manufacturing

premises. As a first time client of the construction industry, Alex, the managing director, has heard

from acquaintances that contractors' claims can often cause predicted times and prices to escalate far

above original estimates. Alex wishes to avoid such excesses on her project and intends to strike out

all claims clauses from the contracts that will be used on the project. She has not yet appointed any

of the consultants for the project and is considering you for appointment as project manager. For

various reasons, your firm is keen to be involved with this project and feels that it would be useful to

develop a close working relationship with this client.

What advice would you give to Alex about her proposed policy for the claims clauses in her

construction contracts?
