Use the footscrews to re-center the vertical plummet over the point

Setup the tripod over the point with the tripod base fairly horizontal.

Step-in all three footpegs of the tripod

Mount the Total Station on the tripod with the tripod screw.

Lift 2 legs of the tripod and move slightly to center the instrument over the point with the vertical plummet.

Rotate the footscrews of the instrument to the center of their travel.
