Question? Below paragraph What should IKEA do at

IKEA in Saudi Arabia (B) October 2012 On October 1, 2012, the day the Metro article was published, Inter IKEA Systems indicated in a public statement that the edits to the catalogs were made by its local franchisee, Ghassan Alsulaiman Furniture Co. An article in the press worded it as follows, IKEA Group... said it had produced the catalog for a Saudi franchisee outside the group."2 Reuters reported that IKEA franchisee Ghassan Alsulaiman Furniture Co was not immediately available for comment. 3 Later that day, Inter IKEA Systems changed its position and took responsibility for the decision, saying the blame lay squarely with the company and not with the local franchisee, adding that it regretted the decision. Inter IKEA Systems spokeswoman Ulrika Englesson Sandman said in a statement, It is not the local franchisee that has requested the retouch of the discussed pictures. The mistake happened during the work process occurring before presenting the draft catalog for IKEA Saudi Arabia," (adding that franchisees had the final say on the production of the catalogs, including pictures). She added, We will naturally review our routines and working process, to ensure that this will not happen again."5 The Wall Street Journal (WST) also reported that Inter IKEA Systems said it would investigate why such a decision was taken and that it would look into whether they could re- insert women in the online catalog. February 2013 In February 2013, the WSJ reported that women were still missing from IKEA's 2013 online Saudi catalog, almost five months after the company had publicly apologized for removing them and had said it would consider making changes. The same article referred to Englesson Sandman saying Inter IKEA Systems was still reviewing the guidelines for what was acceptable for an IKEA catalog and that, while reinstating the missing women would have been a rather simple digital fix, franchisee Ghassan Alsulaiman Furniture Co had decided not to edit the catalog because the damage was already done. Inter IKEA Systems however promised to make changes in its upcoming catalog. All IKEA catalogues launched after July 2013 included both male and female models
