Question: Current Events: Find a recent article about a new/upcoming information system or technology for business. Provide the following: o Link to your reference o Very brief summary of what you found most interesting o How/what does it improve? o Critique: What is your assessment of its potential to actually do what it is supposed to do for businesses (i.e. cost, performance, time, risk, etc. Response 1: Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cloud is a system that provides organizations with advanced capabilities to respond to market shifts. First, companies benefit from the Oracle ERP cloud due to reduced costs. The costs for installing Oracle cloud are relatively cheap compared to on-premise systems. Lippincott and Wetteman (2016) indicate that users only pay annual subscription costs for software and no charge for hardware. The maintenance cost of oracle cloud is also affordable because there are no costs for hardware equipment and system updates. Besides, the ERP reduces labor costs because companies only need to hire application developers, system integrators and system users. This helps companies save on money that would have been used to hire highly skilled personnel to operate and maintain on-premise systems. The initial training is also cheap for oracle ERP cloud because trainees only require an average of 25 hours of training instead of the 50 hours trainees spend on initial training when using on-premise ERP. Therefore, Oracle ERP is an effective system because it helps companies save on installation and maintenance costs. Besides, Oracle ERP cloud enhances user productivity because it helps manage procurement, finances and projects. Notably, Oracle ERP cloud works remotely using high-notch technology because users only need an internet connection to access services worldwide. It helps organizations eliminate time-consuming and complex processes because it can quickly generate reports and does not require constant system updates (Lippincott & Wetteman, 2016). Also, the system allows users to access company information through their mobile devices or computers, which is effective for companies that need to engage in remote work. In addition, Oracle ERP cloud breaks down databases and silos, allowing employees from different departments to access customer data more easily and share reports. This leads to increased collaboration between departments and customer-tailored experiences, essential for an organizations top performance. Easy access to data and communication also enables quick decision-making in the organization. Hence, Oracle ERP cloud is an effective software because it reduces costs and enhances user productivity in the organization. Response 2: I have never heard of RPA before reading your post. As I was reading about its capabilities around data collection, my first thought was if the abilities of RPA are secure. To login into enterprise systems and collect human decisions from email while also filling forms, if, in the hands of the wrong person, I imagine it could cause cybersecurity attacks. So, instead of this being a personal theory, I searched Google to see if there was an article that confirmed my hunch. I found that, indeed, RPA can impose security risks if and when vulnerable. The cause of RPA vulnerability is many, including weak passwords, SQL injection, the upload of infected software, and more. And the vulnerabilities could cause the following: "...Provide cyber attackers access to the corporate network. Even though most advanced RPA systems nowadays use encryption while transferring data, there are still low-security-level RPA tools where non-encrypted data transfer may cause sensitive data leakage" (2021). https://electroneek.com/blog/business-insights/security-concerns-in-rpa-4-step-guide-to-address-them/ In your opinion, do you think we will see more advancement in RPA's? Does it have the opportunity for longevity, or is this a tech fad that would die out? *****PLEASE RESPOND TO RESPONSE 2*****
