The internal audit department (function) can achieve this by: Providing the audit committee with objective feedback about the control system used and the performance of the unit (department in the organisation) being audited. Providing the management of the unit with objective feedback about the present control system and the performance of the unit. Motivating unit management to improve performance by improving control deficiencies identified. Informing unit management about correctly managing performance. Supporting unit management to apply the management process efficiently. The internal auditor can achieve the above objectives by following a prescribed auditing process.
