This summative assignment will give you an opportunity to apply many of the concepts and writing strategies learned throughout the semester. You will apply a pattern, consider your audience and purpose, choose your words, gather and source research and create a persuasive proposal in presentation format.
Course Learning Outcomes

Pre-Task
Imagine you work for a company. It could be a well-known company such as Amazon, Google, McDonalds OR it could be another established company that you know a lot about. As long as the company has a website, it is fine! I need the website link to be included in your presentation so I can view it and check to ensure your presentation aligns with the branding and current product/services of the company. I would rather you write about something that is of interest to you or will benefit you professionally than resort to violating academic integrity.
Once you have chosen the company, you will come up with an idea for a new product or process to present to the company you hypothetically work for.
Brainstorm some process and product ideas (e.g. new iPhone for apple. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE. PLEASE DO NOT CREATE A PROPOSAL FOR A NEW iPHONE)
Choose one of the ideas you have come up with to write your proposal on (it does not have to be currently possible but write as if it is). You can be creative! Please do not propose a product that currently already exists (for example, the ln Apple Watch)
Directions
Create a digital proposal for a project idea (product or process):
Using the following sections complete a digital (MS PowerPoint) proposal presentation to convince management. Your objective is to convince senior management that your idea is a good idea and that the company should proceed with your internal proposal.
This can be an improvement to a current product or process
This can be a completely new and innovative product or process idea
PROJECT TITLE SLIDE: Give your project a name.
Include your name and date in this slide.
INTRODUCTION: Briefly introduce the product/process idea
What exactly are you proposing?
For what purpose (brief)?
Include a drawing, photograph, picture, or video.
RATIONALE: What is the business need for the project? (may be several slides)
Background information (need).
Why it should be done (evidence supporting need).
Market/Industry research.
Competitor research.
Statistics.
** all research included (min. 3 sources) must be cited and documented with APA.
PROJECT GOAL: How will this benefit the company? What is the hoped-for result?
Consider profits/ exposure/ market share/ customer service.
Graphs and tables can be included here to visually express this.
PROJECT STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (RISKS).
What are the project strengths? (areas you strongly feel will be successful).
What are the project weaknesses (areas you feel have risk of failure or issue).
How do you plan to prepare for and mitigate the risks?
PROJECT SCOPE: What will and will not be included in the project?
Consider using a table (In Scope / Out of Scope)
SUMMARY: Summarize the overall idea, project, benefits and need.
This is where you give your final persuasive call to action.
The idea should be appealing and interesting.
Format
You must submit your proposal in digital format (PowerPoint). If you have another suggestion, please seek your instructors approval.
Reminders
Your presentation should be persuasive, interesting and innovative.
You will be marked on your analyzation and writing ability! Use point form (bulleted) information in your slides and provide full sentences and include paragraphs of writing to be evaluated in the notes sections of the slides. You will want to include notes for (at least) the following sections: Rationale, Project Goal, Strengths, and Weaknesses. You should have at least 3 substantial paragraphs in the notes for me to evaluate your writing.
You will NOT be marked on the idea itself.
You MUST include at least 3 external sources to validate your market, competitor, or company research These MUST contain an intext citation and end reference.
All images you use that are not your own must also be cited and referenced.
7 Sections do not mean 7 slides some sections will require multiple slides to complete the section.
Be sure to include section titles and headers for organization and flow.
Write from the perspective of being an employee of the company.
