There are several different explanations as to why a user may wish to run multiple installations of an operating system in a virtual environment but I will discuss three. You may need to have access to different operating systems for various purposes such as or a software designer that needs to test software on all operating systems or a web designer that will need to be able to test your website on all available operating systems. The next reason would be the need for different applications to have different operating systems. In one virtual environment, using different operating systems allows you to run all desktop programs from the same device. This reduces the need for added volume and facilities. The final reason I'm going to discuss is the need to understand and master different operating systems when working in the IT area, you might need to be able to test applications on multiple operating systems or even need several operating systems to operate on multiple Windows or Linux versions to finish the job. All of these different reasons would contribute the need of not needing for extra hardware. It is also saving on time by having the ease of accessing multiple systems without having to move to another machine as well as resources and such. These reasons plus I am sure there are many more but the best thing they save on is money
