In the recent past, the Malaysian Ministry related to Domestic Trade and Consumerism had launched an initiative alongside online marketplaces such as Lazada and 11street to combat the sale of counterfeit goods. More specifically, the ministry and the online marketplaces had signed a pledge to remove sales of all fake branded goods whether handbags, perfumes and clothing and such. Among the e-commerce platforms supporting this pledge are, Zoo-Pee Malaysia, whose representative said, With more than 15,000 sellers on-board our marketplace, we are constantly trying our best to protect our customers by actively removing any products that are online and are suspected or reported to be counterfeit goods. We look forward to working with the ministry and the Malaysian consumer associations in ensuring that our customers are purchasing 100% genuine products onsite and getting their moneys worth. Despite this, recently, a major Korean luxury brand filed criminal charges against Zoo-pee over the sale of its products online that were allegedly fake. "We have not consented to any sale of our products by Zoo-pee and we are not in any way connected with the website and therefore cannot guarantee the authenticity of these product sold by the said website," a spokesperson for the Korean brand said in a recent statement. In short, the firm is accusing Zoo-pee of profiting by allowing counterfeit versions of its products to be sold on its platform. "We have conducted our investigation into the merchant offering the alleged fake products on our platform. We have found that the questions raised by the Korean brand, around product authenticity are valid, and the merchant has been promptly removed", the company said. Zoo-pee also assured its customers that feedback regarding products is taken seriously.
