Write three to four page essay explaining the connections you see between your chosen article and our course texts and/or conversations.

You are welcome to organize your essay in any way you choose, however below I offer a checklist of4 points that you should include at some stage in your writing:

Introduce the relevant topic(s), explaining any key terms, and/or Briefly Summarize your chosen course text(s) in your words (one to two sentences).

Summarize your chosen article (this summary should span roughly one to two paragraphs -- tell me about the author, when/where it was published, what the article is about, its main focus/argument, the scope that it covers, points you found especially interesting, etc.)

Compare & Contrast the information presented in the article

What connections do you see? Some questions you may consider:

Does your article/author adopt a similar topic or perspective, or have a similar argument/message, to one or more of our course texts?

Does your article confirm/support the ideas shared in one or more of our course texts? Or do they disagree with or challenge their ideas?

Does the article expand your understanding/knowledge about the topics that one

more of our course texts explored? (Do they add further detail, discuss new developments, or adopt a new perspective on the same topic? etc.)

Share your own thoughts/opinions on the topic(s) covered in your chosen article, and/or on the article itself.

Do you agree or disagree, or have a particular opinion on, the topic(s) covered in your article and/or our course text(s)?

Did you agree with your article's perspective?

Did you appreciate how the author communicated the information?

Was there any particularly valuable information, or new information, that you learned which has changed your understanding of the topic?

What questions are you left with, if any? Are there aspects of the topic that remain confusing? Are there aspects of the topic that you would like to further explore
