Book banning in schools does harm students' understanding of unexplored topics. Banning certain books can inhibit children from learning about and discussing certain topics. Books regarding profound subjects such as social justice, sexuality, grief, survival, etc. are very important when kids become a certain age. According to Rivera and Flynn (2022), when dealing with adolescent students, that is the best time to allow kids to educate themselves about different topics in literature to explore subjective opinions, feelings, and experiences.
