Reading through the article, with each element I could think of one of the companies I had worked for in the past that either did it right or did it wrong. And I have to say the company I work for now is doing all of it right. I just started this job about a month ago. It is a family$-$owned commercial grain operation. They may be set in the $90$s with their computer system, filing and procedures, but they just feel like home to this millennial. The owner is hands on and will answer any question you have no matter how dumb you think it is$.$ He knows his operation and the business better than anyone. One of the ladies was moving because her husband got a job out of state. On her last day as she was leaving, the owner said to her$-$ I wish you the best of luck, you are amazing, but you already know that. I was floored! How often do you hear owners$/$managers say that to an employee? I knew I had made the right decision at that point $($not that I hadnt before that, it was just the cherry on top$).$We all want to feel seen and appreciated at work. Many of us have stuff going on outside of work as well and need the time and flexibility to deal with that or simply just enjoy ourselves. More companies need to take a look at this article and implement it in anyway they can.
