Question:
Recent feedback from Acme Company's annual employee climate survey revealed that, on average, women feel they are not being given the same compensation and promotion opportunities as their male colleagues. Leadership is concerned, as they want to treat everyone equitably. Furthermore, even the perception of inequity is problematic given they promised to address gender inequities in the company during last year's stockholder's meeting. Acme Company's executive leadership team and Board of Directors has approached the CHRO and asked her to look into these concerns. Though an in-depth pay equity analysis may be needed in the future, leadership has asked the CHRO to conduct an analysis to explore whether there are differences in compensation between male and female software engineers. They have asked her to report back to them with a summary of findings before the end of the current fiscal quarter. The CHRO is hoping that conducting some statistical analyses can provide insight into the general state of reward equity at the organization and has tasked you to assist with this analysis. Using the data below, and output generated using various analytical techniques, can you conclude that there are statistical differences between how women and men are paid? Any statistical differences in salary growth from 2021 to 2022 between women and men? Results were produced using the following variables: Gender (M,F)* 2021 Annual Salary (USD) 2022 Annual Salary (USD) *Although many organizations have now added codes to capture non-binary (X) as an option in the gender field, for simplicity we have chosen to only include the F and M codes.

Describes the applicable research design and what you can conclude from the statistical results regarding gender and salary. At a minimum, please address the following questions:
- What is/are the hypothesis/hypotheses you would test? (Hint: you want one focal hypothesis pertaining to each variable relationship you wish to test. Also, there may be a hypothesis that requires a combination of multiple analyses to address.)
- Given the results you have, and your information regarding the context, what research design is most applicable to test the hypothesis(/hypotheses) given the data collected? Explain your answer.
- Describe the analytic techniques that are being reported here, and why they help address your hypothesis (or hypotheses).
- Using the results provided by your instructor, was/were your hypothesis/hypotheses supported? What numbers are you using and why?
- What are the insights you can glean from the results?
- What next steps would you recommend to leadership/stakeholders?
