Recommending a Sports Trip for International Guests: You recently got your dream job: You were hired by Ben and Dan Bender, two young entrepreneurs, to help them operate Get the Gear, a business that sells authentic U.S. professional sportswear to fans around the world. Most of its sales are online, but the brick-and-mortar store in Columbus, Ohio, has become a popular shopping destination. Business there has been so good, in fact, that Ben and Dan are considering opening a store in Japan. They've been discussing the possibility with a company in Tokyo, and two of the Japanese executives are planning to come to Columbus to see the store and meet with Ben and Dan this summer. Ben and Dan also want to treat their Japanese guests to a major-league baseball game while they're in the United States. This is where you come in. Your boss, the business manager, asks you to research the cost and relative advantages of trips to four ballparks: one in Cincinnati, one in Pittsburgh, one in Cleve- land, and one in Detroit. He wants you to research the prices for good regular seats (not guest boxes or party rooms) at the various stadiums (you can assume that all four baseball teams will be playing at home when your guests are here). In addition, he suggests that you research trans- portation to the cities, parking, concessions, possible hotels for a two-night stay (hotels that should be within walking distance of the stadiums), and anything else that might be relevant. Make your recommendation for a city in the form of a report addressed to your boss. The report should include an estimate of the total trip cost to each of the four cities, as well as your recommendation for which city to visit. (If your instructor permits, you can choose a different city, sport, or nationality for your international visitors.)
