reply asst:the Amazon effect which was the shift to e-commerce and the effects it had on traditional brick-and-mortar retail stores resulted in a shift that changed expectations for brands and retailers in the eyes of the customer(Champion,2022).
Some negative impacts include its history of forcing other businesses out of business. Amazon's competitiveness allows it to sustain huge losses for years and still survive.. Amazon has also made a dent in the pharmaceutical industry causing retail pharmacy corporations' stock to plummet. Macy's a brick-and-mortar store since 1858 caused most of their stores to close because Amazon's wardrobe impacted their sales (Retamel,2023).
Some positive effects include innovative shifts in how retailers and brands shop. Consumer expectations also rose expecting quick and easy checkouts with digital devices and rapid delivery and curbside pickup. Retailers have had to adjust to stay in business (Champion,2022).
Ethical concerns regarding business practices have made businesses adapt to either working with eccomerce giants like Amazon to deliver their products to customers. Since this shift, businesses and brick and mortar stores working with Amazon should also divulge and share how they deal with unethical practices which will then leave it up to the customer whether they want to buy from a company who does business unethically.
