During project management, there are many challenges that one may encounter. As a good project manager, one should have the skills to find a solution to the problem encountered, or if it is a conflict, they should be able to solve the dispute before it affects the whole project. A good project manager should be swift in finding reliable solutions to problems because the entire project largely depends on managing it (Jaeger, 2019). This paper will address a problem faced in the film production industry and what the project managers are expected to do when one of the lead characters who played a key character in the original series dies unexpectedly. To address this issue, there are various alternatives.

Lead characters play major roles in any series. When an unexpected death occurs, the show's project manager has to find a way to deal with the end without affecting the show. When a lead character dies, the plot of the series may be rewritten and fit in a scene where the character dies in the show (Saillenfest and Jean, 2014). This will ensure that the dead character has finished their role in the series without affecting it. This is what is called killing off a character.

Another alternative to deal with the death of a lead character is replacing the character in the show. There are cases where the story of the series would not allow the main character to play their role, and this forces the project manager to replace the character (Saillenfest and Jean, 2014). In these cases, the audience will be aware of the changes, which may affect the number of people who watch the show, especially those who watched it because of the dead lead character.

In conclusion, dealing with this challenge has its pros and cons. The series will not have to end after the death of the character, and on the other hand, the storyline of the show may be affected when the management decides to kill off the character in the show. When dealing with these problems, it is up to the project manager to weigh the merits and the demerits of the decision.
