Research shows that people pay attention to several aspects of their work environment, including how they are treated, the relationships they form with colleagues and managers, and the actual work they perform. When the workplace and job characteristics embrace the factors contained in Figure 4.2 below (Chapter 4), job satisfaction and organizational are likely to increase. However, it is never easy to include all of these factors in one workplace or one job. Your supervisor tells you that a recent survey of the company's 1,200 employees indicated in a low rate of job satisfaction and even lower rate of organizational commitment. The company is about to expand but first would like to improve how employees feel about the company and their job.
