Research the hiring process for two different agencies with two different jurisdictions (i.e., Chesapeake Police Department & FBI) allowing you to compare and contrast between the two separate agencies and levels of government.

Must include the following information:

• General Qualifications: For this portion of the assignment you will need to provide information as to what the general qualifications are necessary to join the agency you are researching. These qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Driver's license requirements
  • Residency requirements
  • Age requirements, etc.
• Disqualifiers: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss any disqualifiers that exist for the agency you are researching. These disqualifiers include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Driver's license suspensions within a given timeframe
  • Criminal history convictions
  • Drug use
  • Military discharges
  • Untruthfulness
  • Cheating on exams, etc.
• Necessary Skills and Abilities: For this portion of the assignment you will need to provide information on the skills and abilities necessary for a Police Officer/Deputy/Special Agent (dependent upon agency). These skills and abilities will include educational, professional and physical requirements.
  • Educational requirements include any degrees, specialized classes and/or specialized classes and/or certifications.
  • Professional requirements includes any professional experience that is required of someone applying for such a position with the given agencies
  • Physical requirements, it include information about any physical requirements that are necessary to be in your selected job. The physical requirements will include information about Physical Abilities/Agility Tests and physical health requirements.
• Personal History Statements: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss what information is required to submit your personal history statement. This paperwork is to be filled out by applicants, which includes a lengthy and significant amount of detailed information. Discuss, what occurs if the information is omitted from this statement.
• Written Examination: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss what information the candidate is required to know for this examination. (PLEASE NOTE THAT NOT ALL AGENCIES REQUIRE THIS TEST. IF THIS IS THE CASE, PLEASE STATE THAT THE AGENCY RESEARCHED NO LONGER USES IT).
• Background Information: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss the background investigation process. What information is asked during this background investigation?
• Psychological Evaluation: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss the psychological evaluation process. How is this information gathered and in what forms?
• B-Pad Testing: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss what B-Pad Testing is (ONLY IF THE AGENCY YOU'RE RESEARCHING REQUIRES THIS TEST). What does this test evaluate and how does it evaluate the candidate?
• Drug/Alcohol Testing: For this portion of the assignment you will discuss any drug and alcohol testing that will be required of the candidates.
• Compare/Contrast Section: Remember you are to research two separate agencies from two different jurisdictions/levels of law enforcement (i.e., local, state, and federal). For this portion of the assignment, you will explain how the two agencies you researched differ in their requirements and how they are the same. How do differing requirements benefit agencies?
