Jennifer post: Hello professor and classmates,

My name is Jennifer Resendiz. I was born in California but raised where I currently live, here in Colorado. I do not have any kids, and I am the youngest of my siblings. I am excited to be taking one more course that will be able to help me understand my path to the Criminal Justice Field, I have months left until graduation. My current academic goal is to finish these last four months very strong.

As far as experience with criminal justice, I mostly have academic knowledge. I have learned a lot throughout my previous courses. As far as professionally, I have a bit of experience because I currently work in a law firm as an intake specialist. This has given me the opportunity to learn more about how laws work and what I can do to better serve my community.

The issue within social and criminal justice that most interests me is forensic science and its application in solving crimes. I am particularly drawn to the role that evidence plays in ensuring accuracy, fairness, and accountability within the justice system. Forensics serves as the bridge between science and law, allowing investigators to establish facts that can confirm or challenge witness statements, identify suspects, and even exonerate the innocent. I am especially interested in the ethical and procedural standards of forensic investigation, since mistakes or mishandling of evidence can have life changing consequences in criminal cases.

The knowledge I gain in this class will support my professional goal of pursuing a career in forensics. By understanding how the criminal justice system functions and how forensic science fits into it, I will be better prepared to contribute to investigations in a way that upholds justice and integrity. This course is strengthening my ability to critically evaluate evidence, understand the constitutional rights involved in searches and seizures, and recognize the importance of cultural and ethical considerations in forensic work. Professionally, I can apply these insights to roles that require analytical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to legal standards, all of which are essential in forensic careers.
