When attempting to create a budget, I would likely take knowing the audience a step further, bringing community members and stakeholders to the table to co-develop a budget that aligns with their needs and preferences. Participatory budgeting is a process where power is shared, allowing community members the opportunity to decide how to spend part of the budget (Bittle, 2022). The public health benefits of participatory budgeting include community engagement in the public decision-making which improves neighborhood conditions and allows for more equitable distribution of resources (Bittle, 2022)
