Retail gasoline prices have risen lately and this is bad news for most consumers. On the other hand this is positive news for the oil companies and gasoline retailers. And remember a few years ago when $4 gas prices were front-page news? When the price was that high most consumers were very unhappy. And when gasoline prices rise many consumers, politicians, and even the media attribute these price increases to excessive oil industry profits.
