Revision Draft II

The function of the first draft was simply to begin practicing your writing and to test out your planned direction for your essay. The function of this second draft (and any effort of revision) is to refine, reshape, and recommit to your essay plans and argument purpose.

Now that you have received feedback from your instructor on your first essay draft, you will revise your essay to refine your argument and sharpen your approach to your purpose.

Revision includes not only your instructor's feedback but also:

• Your own thoughtful and determined consideration of your argument thoughts and claims,
• Your organization and cohesion of ideas,
• Your writing mechanics (such as grammar and spelling) and format (APA).

Your essay is your own production; your argument is your own carefully crafted collection of thoughts. You should take charge of it above anyone else. So for this revision, you will use your instructor's comments and suggestions as well as your own determination of needs to revise your essay for a second draft.

Follow the instructions below to complete your revision for this assignment.

• Revise the first draft of your essay according to your own thoughtful considerations as well as the feedback given by your instructor.
  • Apply your instructor's feedback and guidance to your argument development.
• Correct any faulty grammar, format, or spelling errors.
• Once you have revised those pages, you will continue to write more of your essay as you planned it in your outline.
• Apply the concepts and practices of the writing process and structure that were presented in the Lecture Content, from Session 1 through Session 3.
• This draft of writing will be three to four pages total.
• You are expected to write in complete sentences, using appropriate grammar.
• You must apply APA and all standard paper formatting and setup guidelines.
