Case 2: Induction Ravi at Syarikat Azfar Sdn. Bhd.

When Ravi asked his new boss about attending an induction programme, the manage On his first day of work in his new job, Ravi arrived at Syarikat Azfar to report for duty at 8.30 am sharp as instructed by text message from the Human Resources manager of the company. However, when he went to her Department, he was told the manager was on leave and none of the executives present knew where Ravi was supposed to be placed. He eventually managed to find the Accounts Department as he had been hired as an Accounting and Finance Executive. The manager of this department told him to sit in the canteen for a while until a desk and chair could be found for him. At 11.00 am, the account Department manager called him back to the department. The manager apologized for the chaos and said that he had not been told that Ravi was to start work that day. Although suitable furniture was being brought up from the store, there would not be a computer available for Ravi for at least a week.

r looked surprised and said, we dont have such programme here, you are qualified in accounts, right? Why would you need an induction programme?

At the end of the day, Ravi went to where he had parked his car in the company compound and discovered that the wheel had been clamped by security. When he asked a security officer why the car had been clamped, he was told that he had parked in a space for senior managers only. Ravi was most upset that he appeared to be in trouble on his first day- after all there was no sign parking area that said Senior Management Parking
