rewrite The OTS Simulation Training Program is designed to prepare the System Operators, who perform the TOP and BA functions and the Shift Supervisors, who perform the RC function, to appropriately respond to power system emergencies. As well, it will help the System Operators and Shift Supervisors to perform their day to day activities. The Systems Operations Engineer - Operations (Trainer) will deliver all of the training offered in the OTS Simulation Training Program with the primary teaching tool being the OTS. Before beginning the OTS Training, an overview of the OTS Environment, for those not familiar with it, with a sample scenario will be given to all System Operators and Shift Supervisors. This will help familiarize them with the operation of the OTS and some of the things to expect during the simulations. The primary goals of the OTS Training are: 1. To enhance the System Operators and Shift Supervisors knowledge of power system principles; 2. To familiarize System Operators and Shift Supervisors with the day to day power system operating procedures; 3. To ensure System Operators and Shift Supervisors can operate the power system in the most efficient and reliable manner; 4. To ensure System Operators and Shift Supervisors feel confident they can handle any type of system disturbance; 5. To prepare the System Operators and Shift Supervisors to respond to emergency restoration procedures in the best possible manner; and 6. To build System Operators and Shift Supervisors confidence when dealing with a disturbance or emergency situation that occurs on the real time power system. OTS Training will be held at a minimum of three (3) times per year and each System Operator and Shift Supervisor will complete all sessions. OTS training can be delivered both in a formal or informal manner (described in detail below). The training schedule will be developed at the beginning of each year by the Trainer, in conjunction with the System Operators and Shift Supervisors. Each training session will be completed in two (2) person teams or on an individual basis which will be determined by the Trainer. The training scenarios are developed and tested by the Trainer so that they accurately model the power system. The scenarios are usually developed from actual power system events. They can also be designed to show power system principles (i.e. voltage control) or to reinforce operating instructions. As well, input from the System Operators and Shift Supervisors on what scenarios they would like to see is also used. Using the OTS save case directory, each scenario is saved and can be used again at any time. Over time, the scenarios will be saved and can be used for refresher training at any time in the future
