A Process Engineer would like you to designconfigure a new plastic injection molding
machine. The machine has three components to perform the steps of injectionmolding
process: the injection unit, the clamp unit, and ejector pins.
Pushing a Button starts the process.
Plastic material is supplied to the machines hopper in granular or pellet form. The
plastic is heated minimum seconds until it melts.
The mold closes the plastic is injected into the mold.
The injection pressure is held for a period of time until the plastic part is solidified
in the mold. After seconds the plastic injection stops and mold is allowed to cool
for a period of seconds.
The pressure is then released, the mold opens, and newly formed plastic parts are
ejected by the ejector pins of the machine and the cycle restarts.
After Parts have been molded a notification is sent to the operator
After parts have been molded the system stops and the hopper will have to be
filled with pellets.
After the hopper has been refilled the system should start again.
When out of pellets the operator cannot start the machine again until heshe refills
and resets the machine.
Pushing another button at any time will cause the machine to stop.
The count however will be maintained so that the machine will complete the
remaining cycles if the start button is pressed again
