ENGL $170$ Indirect Approach Scenario Option #$1-$ Capstone Partnership

You graduated from Camosun College several years ago and now run a small successful business in Victoria. One of your most formative experiences at Camosun was the Capstone course you completed in your final semester. Your program runs its Capstone course by pairing student groups with local businesses for whom the groups create or design something. Each business meets with its assigned student group regularly throughout the term and provides support and feedback in return for the group's completed projected at term end.

Yesterday, you received a letter from the chair of your former Camosun program, asking if you would be willing to work with a student Capstone team this term. One of the businesses that had been enlisted for this term had to back out at the last minute, and the chair is desperate to find an immediate replacement so the student team can get started on their plans.

Unfortunately, your business has been experiencing some complications of its own, and you know that it would be a mistake to take on extra responsibilities right now.

Write an indirect $($refusal$)$ letter to the chair letting them know that you will not be able to work with a Capstone team this term. Keep in mind that the chair was very supportive of you when you were a student, and the Capstone term was especially meaningful. You really do want to help, and you hope to maintain good will.
