SDP Project Step 1 - Project Definition and Requirement Analysis Select your project and define it. Identify the needs of your user: Time period increments, categories, items, simple assumptions, and so forth. This is a good time to sketch up rough ideas about the data files that the project will need. What does the project need to remember when the computer is turned off? How does its data grow, day by day, as the user runs the program? Make notes of this as you go through each step; there may be more needs to remember (to file away) information that youll discover as you go. Simple RAPTOR or pseudocode prototypes can spell these out, check both your math, and your design assumptions.
Key Task: What is the system? What does it do? What data does it produce? Based on what inputs and how? How (broadly) does the user get work done with it? Consult one or both of your ADs and discuss your plans. If you need assistance ask them for help, ideas, and their suggested strategy.
