Question:
Search forone article that makes a clear argument, analyze it carefully, and come up with an overall claim (your thesis) which will state how persuasive you thought the author's argument was based on his/her use of the rhetorical appeals. Your thesis must give a reason as to why or why not you thought the argument was strong. Your introduction should begin with a brief summary of the author's argument and should then funnel down into your thesis statement (your judgment of how well the argument was constructed through the rhetorical appeals).
You will not argue your own personal stance about the issues the author brings up in the article (whether you personally think they are right or wrong). For example, if the article is about climate change, you will not put in your own "two cents" about climate change or whether you agree or disagree with the author on this issue. You will only look at how well the author constructed and crafted the argument through their use of the rhetorical appeals. Your paper must be at least 1000 words, and it must include a Works Cited page and proper in-text citations for the one source you are evaluating.
