Second Assignment - Managerial Accounting b21 This assignment is due 1 week today before class and is composed two parts: 1)w Based on the business plan, estimate, using the cost-volume-profit concepts introduced in class, the required number of customers for the current year. 2) Construct a recommendation/ set of changes to the Chow business plan introduced in class. Identify areas that the plan was weak and introduce items that you believe would enhance the viability of the business. When you are complete, identify the number of the customers that the restaurant would need to serve in order to break even to the owners. As discussed in class, you may want to change the theme of the restaurant, introduce a new menu and/ or identify areas of cost containment. Each of these areas will have an impact on your break even analysis and I will be looking at how these changes are reflected in your final conclusion, that is, the number of customers required for the 1: full year of operations. Ideally, the assignment (worth 7.5% of your overall grade) will have an executive summary, 5-10 pages for your insights/ analysis and conclusion. The appendix with offer additional detail as needed such as source of information gathered/ financial statements Marks will be earned for originality, attention to detail, consistency of thought and focus, and level of professionalism (ie., writing quality/ font/ graphs, etc.) in communicating your findings. When in doubt, use of the assessment rubric in assignment #1. Part 1 will be weighted 1/3 of the assignment mark (ie., 2.5% of the overall grade) while Part 2 will be weighted 2/3 of the assignment mark (ie., 5% of the overall grade).
