Select a current or recent past new story (from a newspaper, trade publication, news media outlet, etc.) about a company with a new product or service. The news story should be robust enough to enable a comprehensive report/analysis/linkage to MKT 301 course content.
The news story needs to be on a Marketing Topic (a new product, a repositioning, a new ad campaign, channel strategy, pricing strategy, etc).
The presentation should be at least 10 pages in length. Use PowerPoint only
The presentation should include a review of the news story (could be a written article, video or audio or a combination) and at a minimum, the following key components. Please label each section as follows:
1. Marketing News Topic
2. Background (conduct background research about the story to find other sources and angles and write this up in the background and use for the rest of the questions)
3. Key issue(s) raised in the research you conducted about the story.
4. Analysis of the issue(s)(provide context, background of any complexities, analyze the issue(s) at hand.
5. How does the marketing story relate to course content and integrate/link with concepts either current or future (you can read ahead if needed and pull these into your presentation)? Use concepts from one or more chapters in our textbook. Be specific!
6. What is the impact of the news story on customers or stakeholders?
7. What decisions would you have made/different if you were in charge and why?
8. Bibliography: 4 sources minimum. 2 consumer (multi media) and 2 trade journals/pubs
All Presentations will be posted in a Module for other students to review and we may use some of these for in class discussions.
