Select an IT technology from the list attached to the assignment in the online classroom. If you would like to use a technology that is not on the list, please contact your instructor for approval. Conduct research and provide a 5-minute presentation. The questions below should be considered a guide. You may use those questions, or questions you find relevant to your topic. You will be graded on content knowledge, slide design and organization, transition, and your Works Cited page. 1. Why is this technology/book/organization important? 2. Who and when was the technology developed? (big picture) 3. How does it work? 4. How do you think it will impact the future? 6x6 Rule The Slides should be created in Normal view so that you can see both the slide and the Notes section. Each slide should have clear, simple graphics (if used) with few words. Consider using the 6 x 6 rule no more than 6 lines per slide with no more than six words (to include bullets and sub-bullets). You will not be expected to write complete sentences on each slide. Save that for the Notes section. Slides are only outlines - speaking points. They should very rarely be complete thoughts. Slides can be created using default settings; however, you should not go below 24-point font. Do not create slides for the audience to read. The goal will be to create a dynamic presentation that informs your audience. Script for Narration For the notes part of each slide you will write what you would actually say to your audience. This portion will become your script and should take on a conversational tone. It is recommended that you avoid long and complex sentences. You are expected to use in-text citations but you will not state them. If you are using a specific source to lend credibility to your presentation, you simply need to state the name but not the date, page number, etc. Since this presentation has a 5-minute time limit, it is recommended that you read it out loud and time it. You are cautioned not to read too quickly. The notes pages should read naturally and at pace that holds the attention of your audience. Submit and Share Final Product Many software applications that allow you to design and create a presentation are widely available, such as Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Open Office Impress, and Apple Keynote. You are required to record the audio narration into the presentation. A completed presentation will be self-contained; it will start with the tap of the spacebar or Play button, slides will automatically advance in harmony with their recorded voice and the slides will end in 5 minutes. Each presentation should contain at least 25 slides. Appropriate graphics, clip arts, transitions, and animations are also recommended. You are required to publish and produce your presentation in a movie file format and upload to a video-sharing website, such as YouTube, SlideShare, Vimeo, and ScreenCast. You will submit the URL that directs to your presentation.
