Select the data range including titles (cells B4:B28). Click the INSERT tab in the Excel Main Menu. Select the first option of the Insert Line Chart drop down menu. Once the time line plot is displayed, click the DESIGN tab, and then click on the icon Add Chart Element option. Select Trendline from the dropdown menu and More Trendline Options after that. A Trendline Options dialogue window will appear. Check the Display Equation on chart box. Create a Forecast Column next to the Actuals using the Linear Equation obtained in the previous step. x = 1, 2, 3 , 25. Calculate the MSE corresponding to periods 5 through 24. Compare the results with the ones shown in Exhibit 4.8. Submit the Excel file with your calculations, along with a Word file with your comments.
