Sender: gavin.markham@winman.sk.ca Date: Wed 27 Mar 2005 Ref: Progress As you are aware, you sent me to check on installation progress for our client (Municipal Services Ltd in Saskatoon) where for the past two and a half weeks Ken Poitras and Mark Hoylan have been setting up the MSL computerized stock control system. They've been here for two and a half weeks and right now their putting in the cabling for the Waldman Switching Unit and accessories. They should've been heading back to the office at the end of this week accept theres been a problem with the Waldman unit which arrived today and instead of being installed its sitting outside under a tarp. Why? Because no one seem to of calculated that you can't grease a 1.06 metre wide piece of equipment (which is it's narrowest dimension) through a .92 metre wide door!! So, Mr Grindelbauer, who's MSL's manager (actually, I think he's the owner too), has asked Ken and Mark to stay behind until he can bring in a crew to tear out part of the wall to make the door wider. He reckons it'll take about three days. I tried to explain that there would be an extra charge for the longer time Ken and Mark will be on site but he didn't seem to understand or didn't want to hear about it. Maybe you'd better call him. Gavin P.S. I reckon the additional time will be 32 hrs and there will be two more nights accomodation and meals. G PPS I'll be back in the office on the 29th. OK? The questions: 1. How would you feel if you were Gavin's manager and you received this email? 2. From reading this email, what impression do you get of the quality of work that Gavin does for you? 3. If you needed to forward this email to your client (Municipal Services Ltd), would you be able to do so? Why or why not? 4. Rewrite the email (be sure to correct the punctuation and spelling errors)
