Services Data Project Introduction

Please do the data analysis for the dataset. You can use any software $($Excel$,$ Tableau, Python, R$,$

etc.$)$ to study the provided data.

a$.$ District: the geographical location of the customer

b$.$ LeadTech: the lead technical person or team leader responsible for overseeing the

service

c$.$ Service: type of service provided

d$.$ Techs: the number of technical persons assigned to the service

e$.$ LbrHrs: labor hours required for the service

f$.$ PartsCost: cost of the parts involved in the service

g$.$ Wait: time customers wait for a response $($in hours$)$

h$.$ LbrRate: cost per labor hour

i$.$ LbrCost: calculated labor cost $($LbrHrs$\backslash$times LbrRate$)$

j$.$ TotalCost: total service cost $($LbrCost$+$PartsCost$)$

k$.$ ReqDay: dates when customers requests were received

l$.$ Workday: dates when services were scheduled

$2.$ You are expected to:

a$.$ Understand the data, and set up a goal of your study $($e$.$g$.,$ understand whether the

service arrangement is optimal or not$)$

b$.$ Descript the data: make a data summary for the columns you think contain

important and useful information. $($e$.$g$.,$ how many records, five$-$number

summary, mean, std$.,$ range, etc.$)$

c$.$ Plot the data: use suitable charts to descript data. For example, histogram to show

the wait time distribution. Please use at least five charts to show the information

behind the data.

d$.$ Try to ask yourself the following questions when you do the data analysis:

i$.$ Is there any trend?

ii$.$ What is the distribution of the data $($for example, what is the percentage of

sale in West $($Region$)$ for each month$/$whole year.$)$

iii. What can we learn from steps a and b$?$

$3.$ You can also find some other datasets that are related to your study.

$4.$ Prepare a presentation to show your results and present the slides in class $(3/25).$ You will

have $10$ mins to show your results.
