Set up a ring operator and light led's based on the selection.

$1$: Create a program as follows:

$1$: One text ring or menu ring with the following inputs:

$1$: "Selection $1"=0$

$2$: "Selection $2"=1$

$3$: "Selection $3"=2$

$4$: "Selection $4"=3$

$2$: add one case statement that contains $4$ frames, each frame containing $4$ boolean constants

$3$: Wire the $4$ constants to $4$ front panel LED's labeled $1$ through $4$

$4$: Set the constants in the frames such that each selection lights the led $(n)$ that matches with "selection $n"$

$2$: Once you have your program working, replace your text ring or menu ring with the other type of the two. See if there are any differences on how these work.

$3$: Try undefined values

$1$: Right click on the ring input and select "properties"

$2$: on the "edit items" tab, check the "allow undefined values at run time" box

$3$: Run the program

$4$: Click on your ring and select $"..."$

$5$: Enter $"5"$ in the box.

$6$: See what happens and try to determine why you get the results you do$.$
